Materials That I’ve Used In This Challenge!

Hello everyone below you’ll find a list of everything I’m using with my 10000-drawing challenge. I will probably change up the materials from time to time to keep things interesting and flowing. But one goal I have is to improve with charcoal drawing. Anyways this is my material list for my 10000-drawing challenge so far. 100 pages 100 sketchbooks 10000 drawings.

Materials

· Razor blade Knife

· Vine charcoal

· 2h, hb, and 4b charcoal pencils

· Compressed charcoal 6b

· White charcoal

· A pencil holder

· Eraser holders

· Kneaded eraser

· Electric eraser

· Rolled paper

· Blending stumps

· Round Brushes #4, 0, 10/6, and 12

· Flat brushes #2,3/4,4 and a # 10 cat’s tongue

· Razor blade Knife

The razor blade is grate for sharpening charcoal pencils. I like removing the paint before sharpening the pencil. The paint is very slippery I don’t like it for sharpening, nor do I like it for drawing. I’ll remove as much as I can with out sacrificing the pencil holder. The pencil holder needs the surface of the paint to fit the pencil.

· 2h, hb, and 4b charcoal pencils

I’ll start with the 2h. This is my last 2h pencil and its been discontinued by generals!

It’s great when applying initial line or darkening previous lines.

The hb and the 4b are for building up tone I may use a higher grade in the future.

· A pencil holder

We have all heard it before to layer and keep a light hand this pencil holder or extender is perfect for keeping a light hand and

applying light layers with charcoal pencils. Which is why I like using it with my charcoal drawings.

· Vine charcoal

Vine charcoal is nice for an initial sketch I’ve found that you can make some nice tones with it.Different sizes can have different values. like darker tones. It all depends on what I’m trying to achieve.

· White charcoal

I like to use white charcoal as a midtone and a highlight value. Placing the charcoal to the gray tones and the darkest darks!

· Compressed charcoal 6b

Compressed charcoal is a sort of a finishing charcoal. It’s a lot darker than the charcoal pencils and is more permanent than the charcoal pencils. I try to add this last.

· Eraser holders

Erasers are very useful in bringing back highlights especially when I’ve blended the charcoal with a brush! I like cutting them to a fine point. But this is hard to do with the soft ones. I’ve thought of getting some sandpaper sand down the edges. The problem is how soft the erasers are. The pencil holder allows for to have long sort of eraser but it’s hard to get details!

· Kneaded eraser

It’s the most versatile, flexible and multipurpose eraser you’ll find.

Its form can be warped, changed, and manipulated o my gosh its ditto. Pokémon reference joke sorry couldn’t resist. Seriously I like to use for soft tones and then apply highlights with the white charcoal!

· Electric eraser

Honestly, I’ll probably keep finding new ways to use an eraser the best way I’ve found to erase a lot of tone is the electric eraser. I found that it has multiple uses and can even help trying to get certain effects like ruble. It's main role for me right now is just removing a chunk of medium. But sometime when I’m feeling bold and adventurous and there’s that one spot it will be fine I tell myself. It will all work out, nothing bad will happen. I turn on the eraser and shroom my untapped project come flying off the surface. This actually happened, it will probably happen again.

· Rolled paper

I like using these for blending, but I like using them in the late game or for the

blending of small details!

· Blending stumps

Blending stumps are longer than the rolled paper. It provides me with

more coverage of an area to grind the material into the work surface.

I’ll do this last but seeing that there’s length to it could be used at any point in my project.

· Round Brushes #4, 0, 10/6, and 12

I like to use these for softening areas which will create lots of tone the big one the #12 use that to cover a wide area. The smaller ones is used for softening small details.

· Flat brushes #2,3/4,4 and a # 10 cat’s tongue

The flat brushes are firm and can cover a wide area it's really great for blending tightly together. I like to use brushes for soft tones, and it helps build up layers!

· The paper

Honestly, I think any paper will do for this project. This is just what’s available to me.

And you could go for cheaper. Thank you for checking out my material list for the 10000- drawing challenge. This is currently what I’m using for this drawing challenge. I may change up medium. 100 pages 100 sketchbooks 10000 drawings don’t
